Parenting a child who is suffering with an anxiety or mood disorder can be challenging. Many parents are unsure how to help. They worry they will say the wrong thing and feel stuck between supporting their child and maintaining expectations. Anxiety disorders affect one in eight children. Research shows that untreated children with anxiety disorders are at higher risk to perform poorly in school, miss out on important social experiences, and engage in substance abuse. At NW Anxiety Institute, we help parents understand their child's anxiety disorder or other behavioral and emotional problems. We train parents how to provide support, listen, develop empathy, and set expectations for their child.

Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS): CPS is a model for working with anxious, depressed, and dysregulated children. CPS helps parents understand their child and teaches them ways to communicate more effectively.
